H Russell Richardson

Russ Richardson has worked as a consulting forester and real estate broker, advising private individuals in the acquisition, ownership, management and dispersal of rural property for over 45 years. Russ is a Certified Forester, a West Virginia Registered Forester and a licensed West Virginia Real Estate Broker. Mr. Richardson is a native of western Massachusetts and a 1973 graduate of the University of Montana School of Forestry.

Russ has been very active in rural economic development projects and woodland owner education programs since the mid-1970s.

The emphasis of his forestry work has been the art and science of applied Silviculture and innovative ways to encourage multiple use forest management on private woodlands. He has maintained a long-term interest in the management of woodland medicinal plants native to Appalachia, including Goldenseal, black Cohosh and ginseng. Russ has been involved with many applied innovations in forest stewardship. He was inducted into the West Virginia Agricultural and Forestry Hall of Fame in 2018.
