John Durling

John is originally from the rural dairy farm area of Upstate New York where he graduated from the State University of NY at Canton and then a Bachelors Degree in criminal justice at Plattsburgh State University. Upon graduation from college, John joined the New York State Police where he worked his way up through the ranks and served as a Trooper, BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation) Investigator, Lieutenant BCI, and Captain BCI. John is an avid hunter and would spend many vacations chasing whitetail deer and turkeys across the Midwest, falling in love with Southern Iowa. John retired in 2017 after nearly 27 years of service with the NY State Police and he and his wife, Maribeth, moved to Exline, Iowa, where they purchased a home and then built a new home.

John worked part time for the Marion County Sheriffs Department for a couple years and ran a food plot planting business.

As both hobby and business, John has over 30 years of experience with wildlife habitat improvement and planting food plots. His passion is planning and developing often overlooked and neglected properties and turning them into phenomenal hunting properties. He has obtained the Deer Steward 1 Certification through the Quality Deer Management Association and Certification in Habitat Property Evaluation through the National Deer Association. John has assisted several friends in locating hunting properties in the area during the past few years and has developed a passion for real estate which led him to become a realtor. To further his effectiveness in promoting rural homes and farm land, John has obtained his FAA Part 107 Drone Operator Certification. Integrity was ingrained in John throughout his law enforcement career and he has carried it through into his real estate career with the motto Integrity First. Always!
