Looking for your own slice of heaven where you can enjoy 4-wheeling and beautiful scenery? This 10.22 mining claim just a few miles from the historic town of St. Elmo borders both private land and national forest. Not far from the Mary Murphy mine, this parcel is a patented mining claim with live water, beautiful aspen and pine trees and a steep slope of boulders for your climbing enjoyment. The forest service road goes through the bottom portion of the property, with a beautiful stream at the very bottom tip (see photos). You'll want to download the map on your onX Hunt app before you go, but entering the coordinates of 38.66951, -106.358 will get you there with most GPS maps too.
From 285, take County Road 162 west out of Nathrop, Colorado about 14 miles and turn left on Hancock Road (County Road 295). At this point, you will need a high clearance vehicle - 4 wheel drive only. Follow for about 3.5 miles to the First Colorado Land Office sign. I highly recommend using onX Hunt app and download the map before you go. No cell service once you pass Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort.
