Big Valley Farm: Fremont County Wyoming
Location: The Big Valley Farm is located just 7.5 miles north of Riverton Wyoming 1 mile off Highway 789. It lies on a gentle southern slope above the Wind River, with gravel maintained county road access on two sides of the farm. This farm has easy access to Riverton yet lies in a secluded valley of large productive farms. Riverton lies in the Wind River Valley between the Wind and Owl Creek Mountains. It boasts a regional airport, community college, and is building a new medical center. Riverton also has one of the States largest livestock markets. Currently it has a population of approximately 10,000 people and is a community with an agricultural, energy, and budding manufacturing base. Yellowstone Park is 2 hours west, Casper is 2 hours east. A multitude of outdoor activities are all within minutes of town.
Description: The farm is located near a large riparian corridor along the Wind River about 1 mile away. Mature cottonwood trees line the yards around the residence. There are wide open views of the surrounding farms and mountains and the privacy of the location provides a great feel.

The soil is highly productive and is currently in alfalfa, grass, and barley. Past production has included grains, sugar beets, corn, and beans. Water: The residences and corrals are serviced by a well on the farm and the irrigation water is provided by LeClair Canal via underground pipe to the property boundary while the Riverton Canal bisects the farm and separates the north and south ends.

Wildlife and Recreation: There is an abundant Whitetail Deer population as well as a very sought after waterfowl population of migratory Goose, Duck, and Sandhill Crane. Pheasant and upland birds also frequent the area. The nearby Wind River and Boysen Reservoir are excellent fisheries and quickly accessible. The renowned Wind River and Absaroka Mountain Ranges are within an hours drive and boast some of the worlds best big game populations.
Comments: Farms in the Wind River Valley are highly sought after for their reliability and excellent climate conditions for putting up some of the finest alfalfa hay in the U.S. These farms are on market for increasingly shorter time frames as the demand increases for production agriculture.
