Located 69 miles SE of Havre, MT, the Anchor Ranch is a functional cattle ranch that boasts unique recreational opportunities and a rich history. This large-scale ranch is comprised of 22,837 deeded acres, 4,400 acres of state land, and the Bullwhacker Grazing Allotment which makes up 39,700 acres of BLM. Anchor Ranch is also a scenic ranch with diverse landscapes ranging from rolling hills, mountains covered in pines, and canyons to green grasslands providing a picturesque view.
Coal Mine Coulee, Bullwhacker Coulee, and Christenson Branch creeks run through the ranch along with multiple springs and reservoirs providing ample water resources to the two mobile homes and corrals located on the property. The ranch provides plentiful grazing opportunities and can support up to 750 AUM. The Anchor Ranch boasts abundant and diverse wildlife including elk, deer, antelope, and bighorn sheep. A large portion of the ranch and the Bullwhacker Grazing Allotment lies within the Upper Missouri River Breaks which are known for producing world record Bighorn Sheep.
Part of the ranch's unique history involves a landmark court decision, in which a rancher won against the government from confiscating three miles of his private ranch trails. This court decision led to Anchor Ranch having three miles of private access to Bullwhacker Road which runs through the property, providing, ease of access to the Missouri River, located south of the ranch.
