Land

This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to own your own private Island in the Heart of the Lakes area in Mid Michigan’s water wonderland. This private island paradise is being offered for only the second time in 100 years from the current owners since 1988. Known by the locals as the School Section Lake Island.

This one of a kind property with its pristine natural beauty has over 2,200 feet of beautiful, firm, sandy shorelines and is heavily wooded hilly terrain with majestic mature cedar, oak and pine trees. The island pathways are ready to explore the beauty and waterfront privacy like no other in our area.

The west shore lakefront lot has the main boathouse with a newer pontoon boat and a dock for easy access to the island and also included is a back lot on East School Section Lake Drive that provides the electricity to the Island.

The island is platted into 20 waterfront lots for possible future development.

School Section Lake is spring fed and known for desirable lakefront living with no wake boating hours before 11:00 am and after 7:30 pm. The non-profit Association hosts a Fourth of July boat parade, a poker run and the annual Meet Your Neighbor picnic. Since 2007 through property owners donations the walleye fish planting program has shown proven success for the experienced angler.

Improvements

The current owners for 40 years were told by the original owner, who purchased the island from the Army Corp of Engineers in the early 1920’s, that the smaller cottage was built about 1925 and the A frame house was built around 1965. We renovated both buildings in the late 80’s and five years ago metal roofs were added on both cottages.

The two cottages offer two bedrooms and one bathroom each and both share beautiful lake views.

The cottages are comfortable with a knotty pine interior and one cottage has a two sided fireplace.

The island boathouse offers access for a fishing boat and both of the cottages have a dock.
