The state and the National Register of Historic Places have recognized the coves uniqueness, declaring it the McLemore Cove Historic District, encompassing 50,000 acres in Walker County. It is the largest of Georgias eight rural historical districts.

McLemore Club: Internationally recognized golf course architects, Rees Jones and Bill Bergin, redesigned the private 18-hole course at McLemore, making it an acclaimed golf course with grand mountain views above the clouds. McLemore Club is in construction on their second 18-hole course and in 2024 are opening a Hilton brand hotel. McLemore also offers some nice dining options.

McLemore Cove Farms & Crockford Pigeon Mountain WMA: Just a few minutes form the property, this 20,000-acre state and county-owned land offers convenient access to lots of outdoor recreation. Miles of trails offer endless opportunities to horseback ride, mountain biking, and hiking. Pigeon Mountain has many limestone formations, which have become a destination among elite rock climbers, and the Pocket at Pigeon Mountain is among the finest areas for wildflowers in Georgia.

Cloudland Canyon State Park: Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, this is one of the most scenic parks in the state of Georgia, offering rugged geology and beautiful vistas. The park straddles a deep gorge cut into the mountain by Sittons Gulch Creek, and elevation differs from 800 to 1,980 feet. A day spent hiking, picnicking, and sightseeing makes for a wonderful time. Heartland Ridge is only 25 minutes from this 3,500-acre state park.
