History

The village of Lakeville is in Addison Township in Oakland County. It was founded and named by Sherman Hopkins in 1830. It was the first settlement in the township, which has been named for pioneer settle Addison Chamberlain. A post office was established in 1836, Lakeville was platted in 1840.
